Vilamo Gariushi (YC38 - YC90) was the father of Otro and Mila Gariushi and an expert geologist and engineer for Ishukone. After losing his job he became a drug dealer for the Guristas Pirates and was later murdered by an Ishukone executive.
Ishukone Corporation
In YC77 Vilamo moved with his wife and two children, Mila and Otro, from Isinokka Eight to Drenali Seven to participate in Ishukone's new operation to mine the planet for its deposits of heavy metals.
The move promised wealth and success, but Vilamo reaped neither for himself. Not longer after settling in Kaurikou Junction he lost his job over an excavation project that had what Vilamo felt was an impossible deadline. A senior Ishukone officer disagreed and had Vilamo replaced. The dismissal earned Vilamo an official reputation as someone who couldn't think large enough to suit corporate ambitions.
When Ishukone's competitors discovered abundant sources of heavy metals in constellations adjacent to the Fade region, Ishukone responded by scaling back their operation and stopped just short of abandoning the Drenali system completely. The planet's economy quickly collapsed. This, combined with his reputation ostracizing him from Ishukone and every other corporation operating locally, left Vilamo without employment options.
Further compounding what he felt was his failure, in YC79 Vilamo's wife was killed in an industrial accident. Mila blamed him for the death and subsequently abandoned her father and brother.
Guristas Pirates
With only Otro left to care for and no other means available to secure employment, Vilamo reluctantly turned to the Guristas Pirates in order to earn an income. They took him in as a dealer for blue pills and exile packs and also came to rely on Vilamo as a contact for wealthy clients due to his academic credentials, refined manners and intellect. His handler was a man known only as Gavriel.
This change in career path forced Vilamo to learn how to handle small firearms for personal protection despite his distaste for guns. His clients were typically corporate Ishukone employees from Kaurikou Junction's wealthy district.
Death
In YC90 and for reasons unknown, an Ishukone corporate executive fatally shot Vilamo after he sold drugs to her. Otro later determined Ishukone Watch buried the murder to protect Ishukone's secret involvement with the Guristas Pirates. The only witness to survive was Vilamo's handler, Gavriel.
